Participants were invited to submit their project proposals on a comics project -- either an ongoing series, a mini series or a graphic novel. I'm 200 kilometres from home, and despite the fact that it's school holidays, there aren't many people around.  Oh, and they have WiFi.  At the pool.  Life is grand.

The good points :
1. I am the boss of me.
2. No tie, belts or shoes.
3. I can manage my own time - my most productive hours won't have to be spent in traffic or stuck in meetings.
4. See number 3; no more meetings.
5. I can eat healthier food.

The bad points :
1. No steady paycheck.

Over the weekend, there was a big hoo-ha at technology superblog Engadget.  Apparently there's a (physical) store that uses the Engadget name without permission.  It turns out that this store is in my back yard - The MidValley Mega Mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Yesterday I hopped over to see whether it was real.  My Treo 650 was at the ready to snap photos.

Palm celebrated their 10th anniversary earlier this week, and tomorrow (1st April), Apple will turn 30.

Last year, I struggled with the choice between getting an external hard drive and a DVD writer for my storage and archiving needs.  At the time, the hard drive option won on a cost basis.  Two weeks ago, I re-looked at the decision and this time, the DVD writer won out.  

Just how economical is the DVD writer nowadays?  I bought my Imation brand DVD writer for just below RM200 (US$54). This has been a year of storms and more storms.  Almost a year ago, thousands of people perished in a natural disaster of epic proportions : the Asian tsunami.  Many were caught unprepared and were left homeless and without shelter.  Earlier this year we saw that even a mighty first world economy was vulnerable : witness the aftermath of Katrina.

Firefox, the little browser that could, is quietly celebrating its first birthday.  In just one year we have seen over 100,000,000 downloads (that's 100 million, folks).  It's the browser that made Microsoft think about updating Internet Explorer again after so many years.

My wife and kids went to Aquaria KLCC last weekend.  While the place was packed, they had a lot of fun.  They bought a "Coloured Glow Shark" as a souvenier toy.  However, the toy very quickly disintegrated!
