My wife and kids went to Aquaria KLCC last weekend. While the place was packed, they had a lot of fun. They bought a "Coloured Glow Shark" as a souvenier toy. However, the toy very quickly disintegrated!

To their credit, Aquaria KLCC has promised a refund.

Serenity in Lego

As a fan of the TV series Firefly, I certainly got a kick out of this. Chris Doyle built his own Serenity transport ship using Lego. You can check out tons of photos and the story behind the construction.

WordPress 1.5.2 update

For the past couple of weeks, I have been playing with Wordpress, mainly for my new site, Treo Today. Wordpress is a personal publishing system built on PHP and MySQL, and licensed under the GPL. It's suitable for both blogs and websites.

Wordpress was amazingly simple to install, and has been rock-solid so far in terms of stability. It's a painless but powerful upgrade to a free blogging system such as Blogger, especially if you're looking for a lot more control for a lot less coding.

The recently-released WordPress 1.5.2 features a number of bug fixes and improvements, as well as security patches.

For upgrade instructions, please refer to the Wordpress Codex.

Treo Today - moving locations

My Treo-focused site, Treo Today, is now around six weeks old. I've had great feedback so far, and about a week ago I decided to move over the whole site from Blogger to a new host (Powweb), a new blogging engine (WordPress) and a new URL (TreoToday.net).

There's a new RSS feed as well -> subscribe here.

Hazy days back again

Hazy days back again
Originally uploaded by morituri.
So the hazy days are back again, this time almost as bad as 1997. The Air Pollution Index has hit above 500 in certain areas - 400 is considered a "Hazardous" level. The Malaysian Government has declared a State of Emergency in the worst affected areas.

More photos of the haze are on my Flickr photostream.

Apple's new Switch

Digital nirvana starts at $499.

Apple has relaunched their Switch to Apple campaign, which previously made Ellen Feiss a celebrity. The site is simple and to the point - it lists 10 reasons why you should switch.

The new Switch campaign is certainly timely. Apple needs as many new customers as they can get. Despite many predictions of doom and gloom following the announcement of the switch to Intel processors, Apple surprised just about everyone with their robust financial performance last quarter. They need to sustain that growth for another nine months at least, before the first Intel Macs appear.
