Treo Ace

I have been looking at the Treo 600 as a possible all-in-one solution for my communications needs. It's just the right size, and the software is top-notch. I've been using Palm OS for over 7 years now. However, there are 3 things that I want improved :

1. Bluetooth
2. Hi-res (320x320 screen resolution)
3. Removable battery

The rumoured Treo 600 successor, the Treo "Ace" looks very promising and has 2 of the 3 above. I am definitely looking forward to October.

For now, my Zire 72 + Sony Ericsson T630 does all I need, albeit in a larger, two-piece package.

Gmail Update

Gmail update:

Overnight, I have sent over 500 messages (out of 1,400 total) to my Gmail inbox. That's over 120MB worth of attachments. It would have been faster if my broadband connection's uplink wasn't limited to 128 kbps.

From what I see so far, I like Gmail. Two features of note are automatically threaded messages ("Conversations" in Gmail jargon) and the ability to assign multiple categories to messages ("Labels"). It will take me some time to get used not having regular email folders.

The user interface is typical Google - simple and fast. In fact, Gmail in combination with the Firefox browser is almost as fast as my regular email client, Apple Mail on Mac OS X.

A Gmail invite!

I just received an invite for a much-coveted Gmail account, thanks to Palmdoc from KVPUG.

Obviously I wasted no time to sign up and use the service. Even though my Yahoo Mail was recently upgraded to 100MB, more is always better.

Still, a whopping 1GB of online storage is a lot of space to fill. For a start, I'm forwarding a copy of every email I have in my iBook to Gmail as a backup. It's easy enough to do using Apple Mail's rules feature. I have over 1,400 messages from Oct last year, so it should take a while.
The haze is still as bad as yesterday. Forest fires in Sumatra - again. Apparently the air in some areas have been rated as "Unhealthy".

Looks like the haze from 1997 is back. The good news is that it's less hot outside. The bad news is that you can't see anything.

Return to Blogger

I have been away from Blogger for a while now. There are lots of new features that I have yet to explore. For example, ever wondered how to Blog direct from a browser? Well here you go : BlogThis!

Works with most web browsers including Safari on the Mac.

There's also a way to blog via email.
